Passenger Information
Catch the Wave!
Riding the bus is easy and we'd like to make it an even more
enjoyable experience, so we'd like to provide you with a few easy tips to
make your ride even easier:
 |
Bus Stop
Arrive at your stop at least five minutes before the bus is scheduled. TCTD drivers set their timepieces by the District Office
clock. Call 503-815-8283 to check the time. Please have exact fare, tickets, token or vouchers ready when boarding. When you see your bus, signal the driver to stop for you. Check the destination sign before you board. Either let the driver know when you would like to get off, or pull the stop chime cord nearest your seat to be let off at the next stop (not available on all buses).
|
Most routes have bus stop signs with rider information and passenger shelters at our more heavily used bus stops. You may also flag a bus along any of our fixed routes. To flag a bus, choose a safe location where the bus driver can easily see you, safely pull off the road, and where you are not at risk from other vehicles. We recommend calling 503-815-8283, so that your driver can be notified where you will be waiting, however calling ahead is not required.
Bus Safety/Rider Conduct
- No smoking, eating or drinking is allowed in TCTD vehicles.
- Please wear your seat belt.
- Each rider is allowed up to three carry-on bags with a maximum of 50 pounds each. You are responsible for handling your own luggage.
- Radios, tape/CD/game players may be used only with earphones.
- Unnecessary conversation with the driver is a safety hazard.
- Please stow your luggage in the storage areas provided or under your seat.
- Disruptive behavior, profanity or vulgar language will result in removal from the van or bus.
| Accessibility
All TCTD vehicles are equipped with either a ramp or lift to allow wheelchair accessibility. Passengers with other mobility limitations or those who cannot navigate the steps may request to use the ramp/lift. The front seats are designated for seniors and passengers with disabilities. The driver may ask passengers to move, in order to allow senior or disabled riders to use the designated seats and/or wheelchair securement devices.
|
 |
If you need assistance during your trip, a personal care attendant may travel with you free of charge. All attendants must be registered with the TCTD Office.
Call us for more information at 503-815-TCTD (8283).
 |
Bike Racks
Our buses are equipped with bike racks for your convenience. Please signal the driver that you will be loading a bike, and follow the three step process illustrated on the rack on the front of the bus.
Lost & Found
If you find a lost item on a bus or van, please give it to the driver. If you leave an item on a TCTD vehicle, please call 503-815-8283. After 30 days, uncollected items are donated to community service agencies.
|
Animals
Service animals are always welcome. Pets may travel in a pet carrier as long as they present no health or safety risk.
Transfers (In-County)
If the first bus you get on does not go to your destination, you may have to transfer to another bus. On the first bus you ride, please ask your driver for a transfer when you pay your fare. Transfers are valid only for the ride and date stated and do not include Dial-a-Ride.
Holiday Service
TCTD buses and vans do not operate on the following holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
Emergency Conditions
Our buses are well-prepared to travel under snowy conditions. However, if roads are impassable, we will do our very best to notify riders via local radio stations. We will notify you by phone if you are a Dial-a-Ride customer. Please note that Dial-a-Ride is not available when severe weather conditions exist such as snow, ice, flooding, or heavy fog.
Park-n-Ride
Riders are encouraged to leave their car at a park-n-ride location and ride the bus. Park-n-Rides are available at the Manzanita bus stop, the South end of Fred Meyer in Tillamook, the Transit District parking lot at 3600 Third Street in Tillamook and at the Kiwanda Senior Center in Pacific City.
